About Ashley
‘I wish I had taken your course years ago” or “these are the skills they should be teaching at Dental School’ are often the responses delegates tell me when they have taken one of my programmes. Nothing gives me more pleasure in business than hearing these comments.
Please allow me to share a little bit of background about me and how I ended up coaching dentists. (It’s a great story.)
In 1992 I left my job in Finance where I was earning £25,000 per year, drove a BMW and had all the company perks to join the world famous and renowned Dale Carnegie Training Organisation as a Business Coach and salesman. I was given Old Trafford and Salford as my territory and I worked on commission only. (My girlfriend at the time Graziella who is now my wife thought I was mad.) The first year was hell and for the first 12 months I sold 22 places on courses and it allowed me to earn the paltry sum of £8,250 in commissions. I drove a Citroen Salsa, which I frequently left unlocked so that someone would steal it and every night, before I went to bed I rehearsed my resignation speech that I was going to give the next morning to my boss and the next morning I would change my mind and start all over again. It was a standard joke that I only had two pairs of jeans to go out in. I failed miserably in my first year.
In my 14th month I finally opened up two large accounts where I earned more in commission in one month than the previous 14 months put together. I had enough money to feed myself and pay my mortgage for a further year and that is when things really took off for me and for the next 9 years in a row, I was the top UK salesman and was also consistently in the top 5 in the world out of a sales force of 1500. After 3 years & 750 hours of unpaid and intense training,( it was like qualifying for the SAS HONEST) I finally graduated to become a Dale Carnegie Trainer and specialised in delivering The Leadership & Communication and the Sales Programmes in the North West of England. I loved the Sales Course with a passion and was soon delivering 5 courses a week and was delivering more sales training in the North West than any other of the 250 Operations World Wide. In 1998 I qualified to become an International Master Trainer, the highest award that can be given to a Dale Carnegie Careerist. This meant that I went round the World coaching Trainers, a role that had enormous responsibility. In addition, I was also part of an International team that would write the materials for the Courses and books.
In 2002, I formed my own business and I now specialise in partnering with forward thinking Dental and Orthodontic Practices to improve the performance of the dentists and their teams, which leads to improved business results and bottom line results. I specialise in delivering the Ethical Sales & Communication Programme, creating a World Class Patient Journey, Creating a High Performance Team and I also work with a very forward group of dentists and Orthodontists on the Serious Players Club, which is an Entrepreneur group.
During the last 5 years I have spoken at most of the major conferences in the UK and these include BDA Conference in 2005, B.A.C.D. in 2005, W.A A.C in 2006/2008, Better Practice in 2007 and British Orthodontic Conferences in 2006 and 2007 & the A.D.I Conference in 2007. This year I am delivering Talking points in May 2009 to 12 venues all over the U.K. I have also written a book called ‘Helping Patients to say YES’ which was launched in the summer of 2007 and has produced his programme on a full set of 6 CDS called Don’t Wait for the Tooth Fairy.
